Old Spanish Days Fiesta is Almost Here
One of my favorite weeks in Santa Barbara is almost here! Old Spanish Days Fiesta has been a local tradition since 1924, celebrating the city's Spanish, Mexican, and early Californian history. Every summer, Fiesta Week fills Santa Barbara with music, dancing, parades, delicious food, and community events that locals and visitors look forward to all year. It's really something special!!
If you're looking for things to do in Santa Barbara this week, here are a few events I wouldn't miss:
🎉 La Fiesta Pequeña (Wednesday, August 5th)
The official kickoff at the Old Mission. It's a beautiful evening with live music, traditional dancing, and one of the best ways to start Fiesta Week. Bring the whole fam!
🌮 Mercado de la Guerra (August 5th–7th)
This is always one of my favorites. Live music, dancing, amazing Mexican food, local vendors, and a fun atmosphere that lasts all day and into the night.
🐎 Historical Parade (Friday, August 7th)
Grab a spot along Cabrillo to watch one of the country's largest equestrian parades. It's one of those Santa Barbara traditions that never gets old.
🎈 Children's Parade (Saturday, August 8th)
If you have little ones, don't miss this one. Kids dress up in traditional Fiesta attire and parade down Cabrillo. I can't wait to take my own kids when they're a little older!
Whether you've lived here for years or you're visiting Santa Barbara for the first time, Old Spanish Days Fiesta is one of the best ways to experience the community. See you around town!
